Is this course MEAC approved? We have never applied for approval. After careful and lengthy consideration, we chose not to align ourselves with MEAC. We would have to charge so much more for our courses and operate our business in a way that is inconsistent with our goals. Affiliation with MEAC is a political alignment more than a standard of excellence. The fact that we are not affiliated with MEAC does not mean that this course is substandard. We actually set the standard for excellence in midwifery education with the first academic distance program in 1981. There is no better preparation for true "with woman" midwifery than completion of this course in conjunction with an apprenticeship. If you have more questions about our decision to remain independent, I will be happy to discuss this issue with you in more detail. Call me at 918-720-2717.
