The scholarships apply to Advanced Midwifery Studies, our 42 month course. Do not apply for scholarship if you already are, or have been, an AMS enrollee. Scholarships are NOT retroactive: apply to new enrollees’ tuition only and are deducted from total tuition, not deposit amount. May be used in conjunction with a limited number of other discount offers. Ask for list of discounts that may apply to you such as membership in Helping Hands Connection, Midwives to Be, VIP or for Payment in Full.

Application required. There is no application fee for the scholarships above but we do have several other scholarships that require a $35 fee for application. PayPal preferred. (Refunded if we do not grant you the scholarship.)

Residents of any Canadian province may enroll in Introduction to Midwifery at a 20% discount at any time.
Standard Scholarships

MMP- Midwifery Multiplication
Project *
$1000 scholarship. 2 granted per year. Prerequisite special research
assignment, demonstrate promotion of apprenticeship and home
birth midwifery prior to application. Promise to train a minimum
of three apprentices and provide community education for two
years.
Ann Sterling *
5 full scholarships for Introduction to Midwifery every year
in honor of our amazing student and friend of AAMI and Trust
Birth, Ann Sterling.
Doula Scholarship *
This scholarship is in honor of Jodilyn Owen’s son, Sam.
Jodilyn, Doula Extraordinare, will be choosing the recipient
of this $1500 scholarship which is open to doulas who want to
make the transition from doula to midwife. One recipient per
year!
Davidson - Cohee *
$600 scholarship. 2 granted per year. Requires extensive research
on cancers that affect women. (This scholarship was founded to
honor the memory of two of our enrollees, Laura Davidson and
Debbie Cohee.)
Tammy Mundell *
$500 scholarship. 1 granted per year. Resident of Arizona. Work
study scholarship. Some research required. (Founded to honor
the memory of Tammy Mundell, an Arizona enrollee.)
Helping Hands *
$500 scholarship. 2 granted per year. Requires community education
and childbirth education (Teach 16 series in four years).
Legacy Award *
Awarded to the daughter or granddaughter of a midwife. $500.
Double if applicant is the daughter of an AAMI graduate. Contact
Carla.
Referral Scholarships
Midwife at Heart
Awarded to someone who has been recommended to the director as
someone with the desire but lack of financial resources. Amount
varies. No application. Director offers to someone who has indicated
interest.
Minnie Stigall Tomlinson Warner (In
honor of Carla’s grandmother)
If you know a graduate, ask her to recommend you for this $1100
referral scholarship. 1 per year. By recommendation of graduate
ONLY.
Truth Teller
This scholarship will be offered to one person who shows courage
as a birth advocate, who stands out as someone who trusts birth
and believes that birth belongs to the mother and not to the
practitioner.
Nominations for this scholarship require at least three letters
on the nominee’s behalf.
